Dr. Renu Raj is an IAS officer of the Kerala cadre. She is one of the best and most efficient IAS officers of India. In a short time, she received appreciation from many people for her decisive action and right administrative decisions.
For being honest, some politicians and corrupt bureaucrats targeted her. She became the Sub Collector of Devikulam, a scenic area known for tourist activities and illegal constructions. She was abused and publicly shamed by the CPM MLA, Mr. S. Rajendran. True to her fighting spirit, she didn’t buckle down under pressure. The MLA had to apologize.
A few months later, she got transfer out of Devikulam. In the last nine years, she is the 16th IAS officer transferred from this area.

Dr. Renu Raj was born and brought up in Kottayam, Kerala. She was a bright student who always performed well throughout her academic career.
She was listed among the Top Ten in Kerala in Class X and XII Board examinations. Later, to pursue MBBS, she took admission in Government Medical College, Kottayam. There, she joined a Government Hospital. She got married while working at the hospital. At that time, she thought to prepare for Civil Services.
Fortunately, her family members wholeheartedly supported this decision. Her husband ensured that she gets sufficient time to get the best results. Her mother is a Malayalam Literature lecturer, and hence she was asked to take Malayalam as an optional subject.
In 2015, Renu Raj cracked UPSC Civil Services Examination. She got All India Rank (AIR) 02.

Renu Raj is married to Dr. L. S. Bhagat. While doing MBBS at Kottayam Medical College, the duo developed an interest in each other, and they got married. Mr. Bhagat is working as a Government Doctor.
