SP Balasubramaniam was born on 4th July, 1946 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
His father’s name is Late S. P. Sambamurthy, a Harikatha artist. His mother’s name is Sakunthalamma (died on 4 February 2019).
Balu has two brothers and five sisters. One of his sisters S. P. Sailaja, is also a famous playback singer.
He discontinued his engineering from JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur.
During his college days, he participated in many singing competitions and won many awards. In 1964, he won his first prize in a music competition for amateur singers; the Madras-based Telugu Cultural Organisation organized the competition.
He won the singing competition and received the award as the best singer in one of the singing competitions judged by S. P. Kodandapani and Ghantasala.
He often visited Music composers for opportunities. He gave his first audition for the song “Nilave Ennidam Nerungadhe.“

He received six National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer for his works in four different languages; Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.
Andhra Pradesh state has awarded him 25 Nandi Awards for Telugu cinema.
Balasubrahmanyam received many state awards from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

SP Balasubramaniam Death – Death Cause, Date of Death, Place of Death
On August 5, SP Balasubramaniyam tested positive of Covid-19 and got admitted to the hospital.
Initially, his health updates on the Health Bulletin released by the hospital’s officials, his health condition is critical. Later, the situation was stable.
All his admirers conducted prayers for his recovery in each nook and corner of the country. Unfortunately, he passed away on 25 September, 2020 at 1:05 PM.
